Allergy Home Hangouts

Springtime doesn’t have to come with sneezing and a stuffy nose. Allergies are common, but not so commonly known, are the many triggers in your home.

WHAT SUCKS MORE THAN MOLD? A vacuum cleaner can contain mold spores in the brushes. White distilled vinegar spritzed into the bristles every 90 days can keep the mold out of the filters. A HEPA filter can help eliminate other indoor allergens.

DON’T GET RID OF THE CAT. You could be as allergic to your own coat as you are to the cat or dog! If Fluffy is making your eyes water, it might be pollen on her fur not a pet allergy. Only an allergy test can confirm for sure, but in the meantime, wipe dogs and cats with a wet cloth before they come inside to remove any pollen that collected on their fur.

DETHRONE DUST MITES. These unpleasant creatures make a meal out of dead skin cells and a habitat out of your carpet, couch cushions and bedding. In return for such hospitality dust mites cause allergic symptoms such as sneezing and a runny nose. Regular cleaning and washing of areas where dust mites thrive can keep them and their waste to a minimum.
