Rest assured that even though coffee has a long history of being labeled 'bad for you' recent research shows that coffee may have health benefits. Over half of Americans over the age of 18 drink coffee everyday.

Here are some of the reasons it can be good for you: When you drink coffee in moderation:

  1. It is a source of antioxidants. The human body seems to absorb more antioxidants from coffee than anything else.
  2. It is pleasing to the senses and makes you feel happy. Just the smell of a steaming cup of coffee could make you less stressed.
  3. It may help people with Parkinson’s disease.
  4. It could lower risk of Type 2 diabetes according to The American Chemical Society.
  5. It can noticeably reduce risk of Alzheimer’s or delay onset, according to researchers.
  6. It allows your brain to work more efficiently. Coffee does have a downside. Negative effects tend to come from excessive drinking, so it’s best to limit yourself to a cup or two a day. Enjoy your brew, just remember, that added cream and sugar is added calories. Additionally, you should drink extra water when you have caffeine.
