Where There's Smoke

Smoke alarms are a key component of a home fire escape plan. When there is a fire, smoke spreads fast. A working smoke detector will give you an early warning so you can get yourself and loved ones outside quickly.

  • Install smoke alarms in every sleeping room and on every level of the home.
  • Test your alarm every month and replace the battery at least once a year. If the alarm makes a “chirping” sound, replace it immediately.
  • Replace your alarm every 10 years.
